![]() About the ArtistBorn in Humidity: St Louis, Missouri Suffered in Hell: Los Angeles, California Currently lives in Heaven: Brooklyn, New York HistoryApril Greenberg has been an artist for over 20 years, and sold her first painting for $1.25 at the age of eight. During her tenure as an artist so far, she has voraciously explored many types of media.CurrentlyCurrently, April is primarily creating sculptures out of steel and paintings ouf of oil paint, a medium to which she recently returned after over a decade away. She is also frequently working on two or three papercuts at a time, which she usually designed on the computer and then cuts out of paper with an exacto knife.RecentlyBefore that, her major obsession is with clay, which has been her choice for expressively sculpting the human figure for the past few years. In fact, this developed, at once point, into an ongoing love affair with plastilene, which is a little unfortunate since the stuff never dries. There is a growing collection of 24-30 inch tall people stinking up the garage, waiting patiently for the day when April masters the art of molding and casting.SomedayWatercolor is a medium that April has mastered in the past but has neglected recently in order to pursue the above-mentioned media. You just can't do it all at once! She plans to revisit watercolors in the future, though. "I really enjoy pushing the limits of traditional watercolors," she says. "The idea of watercolor paintings as being pastel-colored, flower-oriented, soft and sweet pieces of calming tenderness is so 5-minutes-ago. I can't wait to wade into those deep colors and challenging subjects."OtherWhen she's not pursuing artistic endeavors, April is often out on the road spending quality time with her bicycles (there are 3, as of last count) and her cycling friends, as well as participating in the activities of her other Brooklyn communities.
