About the Artist

History

April Greenberg has been an artist for over 25 years, and sold her first painting for $1.25 at the age of eight. During her tenure as an artist so far, she has voraciously explored many types of media.

Currently

Currently, April is primarily creating delicate pieces of cut paper, though she hopes to soon return to welding sculptures out of steel as soon as the Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center opens.

Recently

Before that, her major obsession is with clay, which has been her choice for expressively sculpting the human figure for the past few years. In fact, this developed, at once point, into an ongoing love affair with plastilene, which is a little unfortunate since the stuff never dries. There is a growing collection of 24-30 inch tall people stinking up the garage, waiting patiently for the day when April masters the art of molding and casting.

Someday

Watercolor is a medium that April has struggled with in the past but has neglected recently in order to pursue the above-mentioned media. You just can't do it all at once! She plans to revisit watercolors in the future, though.

Other

When she's not pursuing artistic endeavors, April enjoys being creative in the kitchen (where the artwork, after it is created, is eaten), corrupting the mind of her daughter, and tending the chickens. If there's anything else you want to know, write her a quick email and ask!
