new plastilene sculpture - christian
I’ve put about 6 hours into this new plastilene sculpture. For this one, I’m using a non-sulferous plastilene, which still stinks, but somewhat less obnoxiously. It’s got a slightly different texture for working with, too. Not sure how to describe it … perhaps a bit drier, but in a nice way. Anyway, I’m totally in love with this pose and feel so lucky to get to sculpt it.
rock update
My new rock has had some 10 hours of work on it since I began torturing it. I almost want to name this rock … but think that’ll have to wait until I learn more about who’s trapped in there. He (yes, I think it’ll be a man) is already starting to show me some of his characteristics. I spent a lot of time with both my flat chisel and my rasp yesterday, and have cheese-grater-like hands to prove it. You can see two new photos here and here and if you’re really clever, you’ll find the third pict, too.
chris is finished
last night i put the finishing touches on chris with the model present. she’s now got 20 digits, most of her facial features, hair, ears, and other new-fangled items. i’ve really enjoyed working on this piece. i’d love to cast it in bronze, will more likely cast it in plaster or some kind of resin, but not in the near future. plus, casting that right hand will take some skills that i don’t yet have! click on the photos to see a bunch of photos.

rock update
last night i spent another 3 hours on the new white stone. i’ve defined the nose and chin, started clearing rock away from the neck, and place outlines for the edges of the face. unfortunatley, i neglected to bring my camera, to visual updates will have to wait until next week.
new homepage
yesterday i put up a new homepage on this site. currently it features a changing image. there are nine images, one of which is selected randomly (as randomly as a computer program can be, anyway) each time the page is loaded.
